Calama’s dawn

A live video installation displaying a sunrise in Calama, Chile, where my mother lives. It was screened for 2 hours every day during the exhibition period at Geumcheon Art Space ( Seoul, South Korea ), showing the exact moment when the sun rises for Chile, which is the exact moment when the sun sets in Korea ( 6:19 am Chilean time and 6:19 pm Korean time).

Given that mother and child are related by strong biological bonds and live in opposite parts of the world, I shared physical and emotive moments (like a sunrise or a sunset) in a parallel temporal and ubiquitous dimension generated by contemporary forms of communication.

Calama's dawn displays a dawn in the Atacama's desert, where my mom's living. I displayed this image in realtime while I was in Seoul, South Korea, the oposite side of the world
